For the next two weeks I’m going to be in NYC on a combination vacation/apartment hunting trip and I’m probably not going to have a chance to post as much as I usually do. So if the posting seems a little sporadic and light over the next few weeks, now you know why.

The Nikkei reports that Suzuki Motor Corp. plans to develop flex-fuel cars that can run completely on 100% ethanol (E100) and launch them in South America and the US in around 2010.

As a first step, the company plans to begin selling in Brazil and acheter cialis elsewhere a passenger car fueled by a gasoline-bioethanol mixture that is 25% bioethanol by the comprar viagra end of March.

Suzuki has decided to accelerate development of ethanol cars because demand for them is expected to grow worldwide, with various efforts underway to develop technologies for producing bioethanol from non-food crops, such as rice straw.

Suzuki is also reportedly considering a hybrid option for a 3-liter mid-size car by leveraging its joint development efforts with GM, as well as launching its diesels, which it sells in India and Europe, in Japan.

State Senate Democrats, led by outgoing Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata (Democrat – Oakland) said that major points of a budget deal with Governor Arnold viagra Schwarzenegger has been reached, including agreement for a spending cap on state spending in future State budgets. There is no official word yet on what the Assembly will do, who were not part of this achat cialis budget agreement. However the agreement reached with the Governor does not mean passage in the State Senate – or Assembly is close, with Republican votes needed in both houses to pass a State budget. Republican leaders in both houses have previously said they would refuse to support a budget that included new increases in taxes. Also mentioned, though with no details, was agreement on a temporary 1 cent increase in the State sales tax and a reserve fund proposed earlier by the Governor. Perata said the agreement will not include a provision for automatic spending cuts that a governor can make if there are future budget deficits – new authority that Governor Schwarzenegger wanted as part of his budget reform package. Advocates Fear New Spending Cuts Impacting People With Disabilities, Seniors

Additional spending cuts were also part of the over all agreement – though no details are available. Some advocates fear that new cuts could mean more reductions to programs critical for people with disabilities, mental health needs, seniors and low income families, including a cut of the federal cost of living money due January 1, 2009 for people receiving SSI/SSP (Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Payment). No Senate Floor Vote Scheduled Yet

Passage of a State budget requires 27 votes of 40 members in the State Senate and 54 votes of 80 members in the Assembly.

Democrats control 25 seats in the State Senate – and if all Democrats voted for the budget agreement, at least two Republican votes would be needed. Six Republican votes would be needed in the Assembly if all the Democrats there voted for a budget.

Sen. Perata said that it was up to the Republican Governor now to get Republican votes in the State Senate and Assembly to pass the budget. Perata said he will not schedule a Senate floor vote on the budget until he is certain that the Governor has the two Senate Republican votes for the compromise.

The (renewable) electron economy, part 4

By Michael Hoexter

This is the fourth in a series on how we can build an energy future based on our best science and no longer critically dependent upon exhaustible and polluting fossil fuels.

The tripartite approach allows our society to cut oil demand and dependence substantially within a decade, much more quickly than a sole reliance on electrification of the autonomous vehicle fleet through sales of battery-electric and plug in hybrid vehicles. Combining these vehicles with the already well-proven and easily scalable technology of vehicles that use trolley poles or a pantograph to draw power from the grid while in motion allows policy makers to take a leadership role when required to supplement the emerging market for personal or corporately owned electric vehicles. Most world leaders with a future orientation recognize a global energy crisis of enormous proportions where electric transport has a crucial role. In an under-publicized speech, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown already sees in electrification of transportation both a business opportunity for the U.K. and a more general solution to living in a post-oil world.

ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT: Summary from Federal Wildlife Laws Handbook
The Endangered Species Act provides broad protection for species of fish, wildlife and plants that are listed as threatened or endangered in the U.S. or …

Endangered Species Act of 1973
Through federal action and by encouraging the establishment of state programs, the 1973 Endangered Species Act provided for the conservation of ecosystems …

the secretive texas party eestor is claiming that it will viagra generico produce a revolutionary electric energy storage strategy, though it has continued to push completely the timeline respecting commercialization.

Advances in battery and ultracapacitor technology and manufacturing technologies are inevitable, but the timing of their widespread adoption will substantially lag demand for them. Insistent demands by concerned consumers that Tesla Motors or another manufacturer create in the next few years a battery electric vehicle that is priced at the level of gasoline powered economy cars are as of today wishful thinking.

PROTECTION OF ENDANGERED SPECIES – Kids' Planet — Defenders of …
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was passed in 1973 in order to protect … The Endangered Species Act outlines a number of protective measures that are …

The Endangered Species Act
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) of 1973 [1] protects plants and animals that are listed by the federal government as "endangered" or "threatened. …

Endangered Species Act – Office of Protected Resources – NOAA …
Pacific salmon are listed as "evolutionarily significant units (ESUs)", which are essentially equivalent to DPSs for the purpose of the ESA. …

Batteries, however, will remain far more advanced and widely available than hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cells. Though hydrogen may have a future role, the focus on hydrogen by policymakers and automakers has functioned as a distraction from electric technology, the clear next generation in powering transport. Unfortunately commercial interests that a decade ago wanted to delay the emergence of electric transport, held onto hydrogen as the next thing to, seemingly, prolong the era of profitable petroleum powered vehicles.

The tripartite strategy allows policy makers to respond more immediately to the demand for oil alternatives by implementing programs that build out grid-powered transportation infrastructure for freight and passenger traffic using “off the shelf” technologies. Policymakers can create incentive packages, issue bonds or levy taxes for the necessary work to keep America moving. Incentives for private companies to invest in electric transport infrastructure can be designed. Beyond its easy scalability, requiring few to no technical advances, powering vehicles directly from the grid is highly efficient because power is used directly after generation rather than diminished a fraction through charging and discharging a battery. Using that extra fraction of power for the convenience of storage is well worth it in many contexts but is not necessary for all transport tasks.

Endangered Species Act – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
or ESA is the most wide-ranging of the dozens of United States environmental laws passed in the 1970s. As stated in section 2 of the act, it was designed to …

Building electrified rights of way

most of america’s rail freight is moved by diesel locomotives on non-electrified tracks; with an electrified train system the energy of trains braking could be captured pro use by other trains.

There are now a number of plans emerging on a national, continental, and local level to electrify transportation in part. Alan Drake, a contributor to a number of energy and transport websites, has devised a plan to electrify 36,000 miles of vital freight railways in the U.S. and increase the speed of rail freight; higher speed freight allows an easier commingling of freight and passenger traffic on the rails levitra sofort bestellen. A high speed (electric) passenger rail line is now being proposed in California to link San Diego and Los Angeles with San Francisco and Sacramento. Public transit advocates have created visions of how various cities could be transformed with expanded subway or light rail networks, many of which unfortunately require larger per mile investments than simply electrifying existing rails and roadways.

US CODE–TITLE 16–CONSERVATION
Determination of endangered species and threatened species. Sec. 1534. Land acquisition. … Construction with Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972. Sec. …

Building of new heavy and lighter rail infrastructure is inevitable but a rapid start to electrification will work with existing rights of way, tracks and roadways. As an exercise, imagine your own local area or, as the America 2050 plan [PDF] calls it your larger “megaregion” and visualize where are the highest traffic areas where we could rapidly transfer people and freight from petroleum dependent to electric transport.

An example: moving the
